Video description

An exploration with green screen and chroma-key technology. Using green tempera paint as a 'green screen', I painted trees while they began to catch fire (later done with chroma-key video editing). This video reflects on the relationship between the environment and humans, in a simplified visual way. Primary succession is the process of wiping out plant life entirely, creating a disturbance in which the environment then begins harboring fresh life again. While a forest fire is actually an example of secondary succession (where some remnants of life and still remain), the emphasis here is on the human interruption, which foreshadows a disturbance much closer to and as dramatic as primary succession.
